Children’s Programs

September 4th – Read with Roger, the therapy dog. Schedule an appt. between 2:30 & 4:30. Call 615-575-0508.

Lapsit – Friday mornings at 10:30am (for infants & toddlers ages 2 and under)
This program is for infants and toddlers ages 2 & under and their caregivers (older siblings are allowed to attend/participate when necessary). The program lasts around 30 minutes. It includes books/stories, lots of songs, nursery rhymes, and fingerplays.
09/06/24 – Sunday is Grandparents’ Day: We love grandparents! Stories, songs, and rhymes.

09/13/24 – Jobs You Might Want to do When You Grow Up: Songs, rhymes, and stickers.
09/20/24 – Autumn Begins 9/22: Stories, songs, and rhymes about Fall: plus stickers at the end!
09/27/24 – Today is All About Pets! : Stories, songs, and rhymes.

Wednesday Mornings at 10:30am (for 3 to 5 yrs old unless marked ‘ALL AGES’)

09/04/24 – Jobs in our Community: Our community needs lots of people. Learn about the people who do these jobs. We will share some books, sing, move, and color a page to take home.
09/11/24 – Jobs that Help Kids: Teachers, parents, grandparents and more! Stories, songs, moving & grooving, plus making a thank you message.
09/18/24 – Gross Jobs! : Some people have “icky” jobs. Stories mostly about garbage collection, plus songs and movement & a recycled craft project.
09/25/24 – Animal Jobs! : Taking care of animals, and jobs animals do. As always there will be stories, some songs, movement activities and a coloring page.

Wednesday Afternoons at 3:30pm (typically K-5 students)

09/04/24 – Jobs in Our Community: We will have our program in the community room. Starting off with a mad-lib, followed by a discussion about jobs that make our community work and a book . . . and then a game of Four Corners.
09/11/24 – Jobs that Help Kids: We’ll talk about jobs that help kids (teachers, parents, etc) followed by sharing a book and making a thank you card for someone that makes a difference in your life.
09/18/24 – Gross Jobs! : There are some icky/disgusting jobs that someone has to do. We’ll have a guest reader to share a book about GARBAGE. Lots of books on display about disgusting jobs and a craft project using “garbage” items.
09/25/24 – Animal Jobs! : Jobs they do, and jobs where we take care of animals. There will be an opening activity, a book, and then animal charades.
FAMILY EVENTS (ALL AGES)
Hooks & Needles Club: September 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th
All are welcome regardless of skill level. Ages 10 & up. Bring a hook & yarn!
Tea Time: September 14th 11:30-12:30

The race is on to yell out "BINGO." Prizes awarded to winners.
09/19/24 – Pom-Pom Launchers
Build your launcher to shoot the pom-poms to knock down the obstacles!
09/26/24 – Game Day!
Today’s games could be: video; board; card; virtual; fantasy… choose which game and which friends you want to game with today!
Dungeons & Dragons: Friday, September 20th 3:30-5:00 Join us for our D&D group! Both teens and college ages are welcome!
ADULT PROGRAMS
Bingo: Every Tuesday at 1:00 PM
Join in on the fun of friendly competition as Ms. Vicki calls out the numbers, and the race is on to yell out "BINGO." Prizes awarded to winners.
Veteran's Representative: Wednesday, September 4th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in a study room
A rep from the Sumner County Veteran's Service Office will be available to help any veteran or veteran's spouse with questions or filling out forms. No appointment necessary. First come, first serve basis.
Genealogy Club: September 7th at 10am
Allen Haynes has given our library about 30 Volumes of pictures he has collected from different sources. They are usually kept locked in the museum closet unless someone asks to see them. Many are from the Portland and surrounding areas and some are Portland people. Some pictures are identified and some are not. We will share the books and rotate them around during our class. Hope you will join us!
Adult Crafts! : Tuesday, September 17th at 2:30 PM
