12/21/24 THE NASHVILLE ZOO WILL BE HERE: Saturday 12/14 at 11:30: The Nashville Zoo is going to be here presenting a fun, educational program with 3 of their animal ambassadors. If you and your family love being around animals this is the program for you! We don’t know what animals will be here (lions and tigers and bears – OH MY would be fun, but it will probably be smaller, tamer/more domesticated animals that they will bring). Meet & learn about zoo animals.

12/31/24 HAPPY NOON YEARS! - Starting at 11:00am: End 2024 with a big celebration! This will be a program based on the Polar Express Book. We will have cookies and hot chocolate refreshments. Feel free to come in your (modest) pj‘s as the book takes place late on Christmas Eve. Learn about different New Year’s Eve celebrations around the world and at noon we will have a balloon drop to welcome the New Year in - 12 hours ahead of time, so you don’t have to stay up late tonight. This will also be Ms. Linda’s last day at the library, so if you would like to stop by and say Good-bye to her, this is your opportunity to do so.

Lapsit – Friday mornings at 10:30am (for infants & toddlers ages 2 and under)
This program is for infants and toddlers ages 2 & under and their caregivers (older siblings are allowed to attend/participate when necessary). The program lasts around 30 minutes. It includes books/stories, lots of songs, nursery rhymes, and fingerplays.
(December storytimes will be largely based on Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa holidays, not focusing on specific religions, but sharing fun holiday stories/traditions.)
12/06/24 – Animals at Christmas: Stories, songs, rhymes, and stickers.
12/13/24 – Christmas tree stories today! : We’ll sing songs, do fingerplays, share nursery rhymes and have stickers at the end.
12/20/24 – Santa Stories : Rhymes, songs, fingerplays, & stickers.
12/27/24 – Happy New Year! : Staying up late stories, songs, fingerplays, nursery rhymes, and stickers.

12/04/24 – Holiday Stories about Animals : How do animals celebrate the holidays? Songs & activities plus a coloring page to take home with you.
12/11/24 – Holiday Stories about Trees of the Season: Music, movement, & a craft project where we make a tree and decorate it for the season.
12/18/24 – Santa Stories! : Plus music, movement & a coloring page (or santa craft).
12/25/24 – MERRY CHRISTMAS! : LIBRARY IS CLOSED

12/04/24 – A Holiday story with an animal main character: We will meet in the community room and play four corners after the story.
12/11/24 – 2 Holiday stories about Christmas Trees: – one sweet, one funny. Today is a crafting day where we make a Christmas tree decoration.
12/18/24 – Santa Stories Today! : Plus Madlibs and memory game.
12/25/24 – MERRY CHRISTMAS! : LIBRARY IS CLOSED

12/05/24 – DIY Window Clings - Make Christmas window clings decorate windows, mirrors, or glass doors this holiday season. Show off your Christmas spirit in your home and in your library windows by applying the clings you made and watch a plain window turn into a festive work of art.
12/12/24 – Christmas Party - Let’s share our Christmas Spirit with each other. Dress Christmas-y & bring a gift for the gift exchange (handmade or bought - costing under $5).

12/19/24 – I Know Christmas - How well do you know Christmas? Can you finish the lyrics to any Christmas song; do you know the answer to any Christmas trivia question; can you find the hidden Christmas item? We’ll see . . .

12/26/24 – Game Day - Today’s games could be: video; board; card; virtual; fantasy… choose which game and invite friends to game with our fellowship today!
Dungeons & Dragons: Friday, December 6th 3:30-5:00 Join us for our D&D group! Both teens and college ages are welcome!
ADULT PROGRAMS
Bingo: Every Tuesday at 1:00 PM
Join in on the fun of friendly competition as Ms. Vicki calls out the numbers, and the race is on to yell out "BINGO." Prizes awarded to winners.
Veteran's Representative: Wednesday, December 4th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in a study room
A rep from the Sumner County Veteran's Service Office will be available to help any veteran or veteran's spouse with questions or filling out forms. No appointment necessary. First come, first serve basis.
Genealogy Club: December 7th at 10am
Today’s meeting is about food and "receipts" in the 1800's. Attendees are asked to bring a copy of a recipe from the 1800's or early 1900's or an old recipe book to the meeting. This is our last meeting before Christmas, so I have a special "treat" and a special gift for those who attend. Even though its name is "club" it is open to any adult and it is free of charge. Thanks to the Friends of the Portland Library for sponsoring our club!
