What is TAB?
-
TAB is an acronym for Teen Advisory Board.
-
TAB is a group of teens from surrounding communities who volunteer to help their public library develop programs and services for teens. Together, they take an active role in advising and advocacy for ways their public library can best support our youth, teens, and the community. TAB members help shape the library’s young adult collection & development, programming, and they also promote the library in their schools and communities.
Who can join TAB?
-
TAB is open to students ages 12-18 (grades 6-12) from our community. All public, private, and homeschool students are eligible to join!
When does TAB meet?
-
TAB meets on the 4th Friday of each month @ 3:30pm in the library’s Community Room.
What can TAB members do?
-
TAB is organized and run by teens!
-
TAB empowers teens to make their voices heard and to make changes in the library and throughout your community.
-
TAB members can advise the library on its services, policies, and collection.
-
TAB members can create, plan, and run library programs or services that they want to see offered to their community.
-
TAB can also initiate and carry out projects for the library. They can organize community services; a chance to hone their creativity, leadership, or strategic skills; a way to get behind-the-scenes at your library.
-
Being a TAB member is a great thing to put on your college application or resume; or just an opportunity to hang out and do good things with other teens.
What benefits do TAB members get?

TAB members gain volunteer and community experience, learn leadership and teamwork skills, take ownership of their community, and make an impact.
